Wavelet analysis in neurodynamics
Alexey N. Pavlov,A.E. Hramov,A.E. Hramov,Alexey A. Koronovskii,Evgenija Yur’evna Sitnikova,Valerii Aleksandrovich Makarov,A. A. Ovchinnikov +6 more
TL;DR: Results obtained using continuous and discrete wavelet transforms as applied to problems in neurodynamics are reviewed, with the emphasis on the potential of wavelet analysis for decoding signal information from neural systems and networks.
BookDOI
Wavelets in Neuroscience
Alexander E. Hramov,Alexey A. Koronovskii,Valeri A. Makarov,Alexey N. Pavlov,Evgenia Sitnikova +4 more
TL;DR: Wavelet Approach to the Study of Rhythmic Neuronal Activity and Time-Frequency Analysis of EEG: From Theory to Practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonlinear analysis of brain activity, associated with motor action and motor imaginary in untrained subjects
Vladimir A. Maksimenko,Alexey N. Pavlov,Anastasia E. Runnova,Vladimir Nedaivozov,Vadim V. Grubov,Alexey Koronovslii,Svetlana V. Pchelintseva,Elena Pitsik,Alexander N. Pisarchik,Alexander N. Pisarchik,Alexander E. Hramov,Alexander E. Hramov +11 more
TL;DR: This work analyzes the spatio-temporal and time–frequency characteristics of the electrical brain activity, associated with both the motor execution and imagery in a group of untrained subjects, by applying different methods of nonlinear dynamics and creates an algorithm allowing online detection of the observed patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI
Statistical Properties and Predictability of Extreme Epileptic Events.
Nikita S. Frolov,Vadim V. Grubov,Vladimir A. Maksimenko,Annika Lüttjohann,Vladimir V. Makarov,Alexey N. Pavlov,Evgenia Sitnikova,Alexander N. Pisarchik,Jürgen Kurths,Alexander E. Hramov +9 more
TL;DR: Results evidenced a possibility for early prediction of epileptic seizures based on consideration of EEG statistical properties and revealed extreme events inherent in this pathological spiking activity of WAG/Rij rats with genetic predisposition to absence epilepsy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sorting of neural spikes: When wavelet based methods outperform principal component analysis
TL;DR: This work presents a novel method for extraction of spike features based on a combination of PCA and continuous WT, and shows that only when properly tuned to the data, the WT technique may outperform PCA.
