Journal ArticleDOI
Outpatient versus inpatient treatment for patients with acute pulmonary embolism : an international, open-label, randomised, non-inferiority trial.
Drahomir Aujesky,Pierre-Marie Roy,Franck Verschuren,Marc Philip Righini,Josef Johann Osterwalder,Michael Egloff,Bertrand Renaud,Peter Verhamme,Roslyn A. Stone,Catherine Legall,Olivier Sanchez,Nathan A. Pugh,Alfred Ngako,Jacques Cornuz,Olivier Hugli,Hans-Jürg Beer,Arnaud Perrier,Michael J. Fine,Donald M. Yealy +18 more
TL;DR: In selected low-risk patients with pulmonary embolism, outpatient care can safely and effectively be used in place of inpatient care.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of point-of-care testing in the emergency department evaluation and treatment of patients with suspected acute coronary syndromes.
Bertrand Renaud,Patrick Maison,Alfred Ngako,Patrick Cunin,Aline Santin,Jérôme Hervé,Mirna Salloum,Marie-Jeanne Calmettes,Cyril Boraud,Virginie Lemiale,Jean Claude Grégo,Marie Debacker,François Hemery,Eric Roupie +13 more
TL;DR: POCT was associated with decreased time to anti-ischemic therapy of about three-quarters of an hour, which was due to a shorter time to physician notification of cTnI level, in both all and subgroup participants.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Single Procalcitonin Level Does Not Predict Adverse Outcomes of Women with Pyelonephritis
Virginie Lemiale,Bertrand Renaud,Stéphane Moutereau,Alfred Ngako,Mirna Salloum,Marie Jeanne Calmettes,Jérôme Hervé,Cyril Boraud,Aline Santin,Jean-Claude Grégo,François Braconnier,Eric Roupie +11 more
TL;DR: A single PCTlevel was a poor predictor of 28-d adverse medical outcomes in women with pyelonephritis treated in the emergency department, and prediction based on underlying genitourinary abnormality by radiographic testing in addition to the PCT level should be investigated in future studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heart-type fatty acid-binding proteins (H-FABP): a reliable tool for initial risk stratification of pulmonary embolism?
Bertrand Renaud,Alfred Ngako +1 more
TL;DR: It remains difficult to assess the risk of short-term medical outcome and to elicit an appropriate management strategy at the time PE is diagnosed, particularly for patients with intermediate severity criteria, and echocardiography has emerged as the principal tool for risk stratification in acute PE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of myocardial infarction risk in older patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Alfred Ngako,Aline Santin,François Hemery,Mirna Salloum,Marie-Jeanne Calmettes,Jérôme Hervé,Jean-Claude Grégo,Eric Roupie,Patrick Maison,Bertrand Renaud +9 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that patients with a low HARP score might be safely managed without further testing, and a model based on variables easily available at ED presentation from history, physical examination, and electrocardiography can help ED physicians to identify seniors at very low risk of ACS.
