The unsteady pressure field and the aerodynamic performances of a Savonius rotor based on the discrete vortex method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors numerically explore the non-linear two-dimensional unsteady potential flow over a Savonius rotor and develop a code for predicting its aerodynamics performances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vortical structures in the wake of the savonius wind turbine by the discrete vortex method

TL;DR: In this paper, the vortex shedding phenomenon of a wind turbine rotor is modeled as a discrete bound vortices and the wake is generated in a time stepping calculation as an emission of free Vortices, and a code is developed which predicts the wake structure to be in good agreement with the experimental visualizations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Circulation Distribution on the Lifting Line for a Given Extracted Power

TL;DR: In this paper, an inverse optimum project for a horizontal axis wind turbine is presented, in which the selection of the circulation distribution is obtained by resolving two variational problems: the first consists in sorting the circulation distributions on the lifting line, which, for a given power extracted by the wind turbine, minimizes the loses due to the induced velocity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigations on vehicle non-exhaust particle emissions: real-time measurements

TL;DR: In this paper , continuous real-world measurements of non-exhaust particles (NEPs) were recorded over three different road segment types (urban, rural and motorway) in the city of Bron, near Lyon (France).
