A Wind-driven Warping Instability in Accretion Disks

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that when a radially outflowing wind blows across a dense thin rotating disk, an initially flat disk is unstable to warping, and the growth rate is dependent on the lift generated by the wind and the phase lag between the pressure perturbation and the vertical displacement in the disk caused by drag.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison between Pa alpha and H alpha emission: The relation between HII region mean reddening, local gas density and metallicity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured reddenings to HII regions in NGC 2903, NGC 1512, M51, M4449 and NGC 6946 from the Hubble Space Telescope Pa alpha and H alpha images.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Comparison between Paα and Hα Emission: The Relation between Mean H II Region Reddening, Local Gas Density, and Metallicity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured reddenings to H II regions in NGC 1512, 2903, 4449, and 6946, and M51 from Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Paα and Hα images.
