Sensitivity of deformation twinning to grain size in titanium and magnesium

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of grain size on deformation twinning in commercial purity titanium and magnesium alloy Mg-3Al-1Zn (AZ31) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yield point elongation due to twinning in a magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this paper, a microstructural analysis of the twins in deformed samples was presented to explain the yield elongation and in particular why it decreases and eventually disappears with increasing grain size.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of SLM process parameters on density, hardness, tensile strength and surface quality of Ti-6Al-4V

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of process parameters comprising laser power, scan speed, hatch space, laser pattern angle coupling, along with heat treatment as a post-process, in relation to hardness was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of graphite morphologies on the tribological behavior of austempered cast iron

TL;DR: In this paper, three different cast irons, gray, nodular and compact iron, with different chemical compositions were subjected to austempering to investigate the effects of graphite morphology, composition and Austempering on tribological behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of orientation on twin nucleation and growth at low strains in a magnesium alloy

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of resolved shear stress on tension twinning in an extruded magnesium alloy was examined by examining the tension twin formation in different grain orientations, and it was found that the twin habit plane falls within 6° of the K1 plane.
