Journal ArticleDOI
Reconstruction for instability of the sternoclavicular joint using the tendon of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
Alison Armstrong,Joseph J. Dias +1 more
TL;DR: A new method of stabilising a painful unstable sternoclavicular joint using the sternocleidomastoid tendon and passing it through the medial clavicle and onto the manubrium sternum is described, which provides satisfactory results in the medium term.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of adults with primary frozen shoulder in secondary care (UK FROST): a multicentre, pragmatic, three-arm, superiority randomised clinical trial

Thomas,Balachandran Venateswaran +64 more
TL;DR: None of the three interventions were clinically superior in this multicentre, pragmatic, three-arm, superiority randomised trial of manipulation under anaesthesia, arthoscopic capsular release and early structured physiotherapy for frozen shoulder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protocol for the ProFHER (PROximal Fracture of the Humerus: Evaluation by Randomisation) trial: a pragmatic multi-centre randomised controlled trial of surgical versus non-surgical treatment for proximal fracture of the humerus in adults
Helen Handoll,Stephen Brealey,Amar Rangan,David J. Torgerson,L Dennis,Alison Armstrong,Ling-Hsiang Chuang,Ben Cross,Jo C Dumville,Sarah Gardner,Lorna Goodchild,Sharon Hamilton,Catherine Hewitt,Rajan Madhok,Nicola Maffulli,Lucy Micklewright,Valerie Wadsworth,Angus Wallace,John A. Williams,Gill Worthy +19 more
TL;DR: The protocol for a pragmatic UK-based multi-centre randomised controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of surgical versus standard non-surgical treatment for adults with an acute closed displaced fracture of the proximal humerus with involvement of the surgical neck is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears with the Graftjacket Allograft as an Interpositional Graft
TL;DR: The results obtained in the present study suggest that the GraftJacket allograft regenerative tissue matrix provides a very good option for bridging irreparable rotator cuff tears in the short to medium term.
Journal ArticleDOI
United Kingdom Frozen Shoulder Trial (UK FROST), multi-centre, randomised, 12 month, parallel group, superiority study to compare the clinical and cost-effectiveness of Early Structured Physiotherapy versus manipulation under anaesthesia versus arthroscopic capsular release for patients referred to secondary care with a primary frozen shoulder: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
Stephen Brealey,Alison Armstrong,A. J. Brooksbank,Andrew Carr,Charalambos Panayiotou Charalambous,Cushla Cooper,Belen Corbacho,Joseph J. Dias,Iona Donnelly,Lorna Goodchild,Catherine Hewitt,Ada Keding,Lucksy Kottam,Sarah E Lamb,Catriona McDaid,Matthew Northgraves,Gerry Richardson,Sarah Rodgers,Sarwat Shah,Emma Sharp,Sally Spencer,David J. Torgerson,Francine Toye,Amar Rangan,Amar Rangan +24 more
TL;DR: The UK FROST study as mentioned in this paper evaluated the clinical and cost-effectiveness of two invasive and costly surgical interventions that are commonly used in secondary care in the National Health Service (NHS) compared with a non-surgical comparator of Early Structured Physiotherapy.
