The nexus between income inequality, economic growth and environmental degradation in Pakistan
Amdadullah Baloch,Amdadullah Baloch,Said Zamin Shah,Said Zamin Shah,Zaleha Mohd Noor,Hussian Bakhsh Magsi,Hussian Bakhsh Magsi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the impact of income inequality and economic growth on environmental degradation in Pakistan using ARDL bounds testing approach for the period 1966-2011 and found that carbon emissions increase as the income gap expands in Pakistan.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of shadow economy on environmental degradation: empirical evidence from Pakistan
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between shadow economy and the prominent sources of environmental degradation and found that shadow economy not only boosts CO 2 emissions but also influences other sources of pollution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhomogeneity detection in the precipitation series: case of arid province of Pakistan
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of different tests were classified as 'useful', 'doubtful' and'suspect' based on the null hypothesis, and it was observed that von Neumann ratio test is sensitive to minor changes in the precipitation data, and standard normal homogeneity test was found less sensitive to changes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards connecting carbon emissions with asymmetric changes in economic growth: evidence from linear and nonlinear ARDL approaches.
TL;DR: There is convincing evidence that CO2 emissions rise more rapidly during negative shocks to economic growth than increase during economic expansions, and the findings of this study call for a re-thinking on climate policy design that rarely pays attention to the aforementioned outcomes due to fall in economic growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Economic Effect of Refugee Crises on Neighbouring Host Countries: Empirical Evidence from Pakistan
TL;DR: In this paper, the economic impact of more than three million Afghan refugees in Pakistan has been investigated and it is shown that hosting refugees can never be a boon to Pakistan's economy.
