Natural products as a gold mine for arthritis treatment
Dinesh Khanna,Gautam Sethi,Kwang Seok Ahn,Manoj K. Pandey,Ajaikumar B. Kunnumakkara,Bokyung Sung,Amita Aggarwal,Bharat B. Aggarwal +7 more
TL;DR: Several preclinical and clinical studies suggest that these agents have potential for arthritis treatment, and the large number of inexpensive natural products that can modulate inflammatory responses, but lack side effects, constitute 'goldmines' for the treatment of arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Work disability remains a major problem in rheumatoid arthritis in the 2000s: data from 32 countries in the QUEST-RA Study
Tuulikki Sokka,Hannu Kautiainen,Theodore Pincus,Suzanne M M Verstappen,Amita Aggarwal,Rieke Alten,Daina Andersone,Humeira Badsha,Eva Baecklund,Miguel Belmonte,Jurgen Craig-Muller,Licia Maria Henrique da Mota,Alexander Dimic,Nihal A. TL;DR: The Quantitative Standard Monitoring of Patients with RA (QUEST-RA) multinational database of 8,039 patients in 86 sites in 32 countries, 16 with high gross domestic product (GDP) and 16 low-GDP countries, analyzed for work and disability status at onset and over the course of RA and clinical status of patients who continued working or had stopped working according to all RA Core Data Set measures.
Journal Article
Interleukin 17 levels are increased in juvenile idiopathic arthritis synovial fluid and induce synovial fibroblasts to produce proinflammatory cytokines and matrix metalloproteinases.
TL;DR: Increased IL-17 levels in ERA SF correlate with disease activity and this may be due to increased production of MMP and cytokines by IL- 17.
Journal Article
Th1/Th17 cytokine profiles in patients with reactive arthritis/undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy.
TL;DR: Increased IL-17, IL-6, TGF-beta, and IFN-g concentrations in ReA/uSpA than in RA suggest that Th1 and Th17 cells could be the major agents in inflammation in Re a/u spondyloarthropathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of discordance in patients' and physicians' rating of rheumatoid arthritis disease activity
Nasim A. Khan,Horace J. Spencer,Esam Abda,Amita Aggarwal,Rieke Alten,Codrina Ancuta,Daina Andersone,Martin J. Bergman,Jurgen Craig-Muller,Jacqueline Detert,Lia Georgescu,Laure Gossec,Hisham Hamoud,Johannes W G Jacobs,Ieda Maria Magalhães Laurindo,Maria Majdan,Antonio Naranjo,Sapan Pandya,Christof Pohl,Georg Schett,Zahraa Ibrahim Selim,Sergio Toloza,Hisahi Yamanaka,Tuulikki Sokka +23 more
TL;DR: To assess the determinants of patients' (PTGL) and physicians' (MDGL) global assessment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) activity and factors associated with discordance among them, a large number of patients and physicians from around the world are surveyed.
