Fatty acid composition of three freshwater fishes under different storage and cooking processes
Fátima Aparecida Ferreira de Castro,Helena Maria Pinheiro Sant’Ana,Flávia Milagres Campos,Neuza Maria Brunoro Costa,Marco Túlio Coelho Silva,Ana Lúcia Salaro,Sylvia do Carmo Castro Franceschini +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the fatty acid composition of common carp (Cyprinus carpio), Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and tambacu, a hybrid of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) and pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus), was evaluated by gas chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Essential Oregano Oil as a Growth Promoter for the Yellowtail Tetra, Astyanax altiparanae
Pollyanna de Moraes França Ferreira,Lidiane da Silva Nascimento,Devlynn Coelho Dias,Diogo Magalhães da Veiga Moreira,Ana Lúcia Salaro,Mariella Bontempo Freitas,Antonio Policarpo Souza Carneiro,Jener Alexandre Sampaio Zuanon +7 more
TL;DR: It can be concluded that oregano oil, at the level of 0.5 g/kg, acts as a growth promoter for A. altiparanae by improving growth performance and carcass composition and a positive linear effect of the treatments was observed for muscle glycogen.
Journal ArticleDOI
A complete enzymatic capacity for long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis is present in the Amazonian teleost tambaqui, Colossoma macropomum
Renato Ferraz,Naoki Kabeya,Mónica Lopes-Marques,André M. Machado,Ricardo Amaral Ribeiro,Ana Lúcia Salaro,Rodrigo O. A. Ozório,L. Filipe C. Castro,Óscar Monroig,Óscar Monroig +9 more
TL;DR: Results provide compelling evidence that demonstrates that all the desaturase and elongase activities required to convert LA and ALA into ARA, EPA and DHA are present in tambaqui within the three genes studied herein, i.e. fads2, elovl5 andElovl2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Journal ArticleDOI
Intestinal and liver morphometry of the Yellow Tail Tetra (Astyanax altiparanae) fed with oregano oil.
Pollyanna de Moraes França Ferreira,Débora Werneck Caldas,Ana Lúcia Salaro,Sirlene Souza Rodrigues Sartori,Jerusa Maria de Oliveira,Alex Júnio da Silva Cardoso,Jener Alexandre Sampaio Zuanon +6 more
TL;DR: The oregano essential oil promotes increased absorption areas, modulates the amount of goblet cells involved in protecting the intestinal mucosa and promotes cytoplasmic increase with greater deposition of liver glycogen in yellow tail tetra.
