Journal ArticleDOI
Weight Loss Through Lifestyle Modification Significantly Reduces Features of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis.
Eduardo Vilar-Gomez,Yadina Martinez-Perez,Luis Calzadilla-Bertot,Ana Torres-Gonzalez,Bienvenido Gra-Oramas,Licet Gonzalez-Fabian,Scott L. Friedman,Moisés Diago,Manuel Romero-Gómez +8 more
TL;DR: A greater extent of weight loss, induced by lifestyle changes, is associated with the level of improvement in histologic features of NASH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of a noninvasive prediction model for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis resolution after lifestyle intervention
Eduardo Vilar-Gomez,Ali Yasells-Garcia,Yadina Martinez-Perez,Luis Calzadilla-Bertot,Ana Torres-Gonzalez,Bienvenido Gra-Oramas,Licet Gonzalez-Fabian,Oscar Villa-Jimenez,Scott L. Friedman,Moisés Diago,Manuel Romero-Gómez +10 more
TL;DR: A noninvasive prediction model including weight loss, type 2 diabetes, alanine aminotransferase normalization, age, and a nonalcoholic fatty liver activity score ≥5 may be useful to identify NASH resolution in patients under lifestyle intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impaired glucose metabolism increases risk of hepatic decompensation and death in patients with compensated hepatitis C virus-related cirrhosis
Luis Calzadilla-Bertot,Eduardo Vilar-Gomez,Ana Torres-Gonzalez,Maray Socias-Lopez,Moisés Diago,Leon A. Adams,Manuel Romero-Gómez +6 more
TL;DR: In compensated HCV-related cirrhotic patients, diabetes and marked insulin resistance are independently associated with poorer overall survival and increased risk of hepatic decompensation.
