Indian summer monsoon rainfall variability in response to differences in the decay phase of El Niño
Jasti S. Chowdary,H. S. Harsha,H. S. Harsha,Chellappan Gnanaseelan,G. Srinivas,Anant Parekh,Prasanth A. Pillai,C. V. Naidu +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the impact of large variations in decaying El Nino on the Indian summer monsoon rainfall and circulation is not systematically examined, however, it is observed that ISM rainfall is above normal/excess during ED years, normal during MD years and below normal/deficit in ND years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaporation-precipitation variability over Indian Ocean and its assessment in NCEP Climate Forecast System (CFSv2)
Samir Pokhrel,Hasibur Rahaman,Anant Parekh,Subodh Kumar Saha,Ashish Dhakate,Hemantkumar S. Chaudhari,R. M. Gairola +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an attempt has been made to explore all the facets of evaporation-precipitation distribution and variability over the Indian Ocean (IO) basin using OAFlux data and subsequently a thorough assessment of the latest version of National Centers for Environment Prediction (NCEP) Climate Forecast System (CFS) version-2 is done.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of wind data from QuikSCAT and buoys in the Indian Ocean
TL;DR: In this article, the performance of QuikSCAT-derived wind vectors is evaluated using in-situ data from moored buoys over the Indian Ocean, and the results show that the mean differences for wind speed and wind direction are 0.37 millimms-1 and 5.8 millimm-1, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of the Indian summer monsoon in the WRF regional climate model
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of the regional climate model, Weather Research and Forecasting in simulating the three dimensional moist and thermodynamic structure of Indian summer monsoon (ISM) during 2001-2011 is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamics of east-west asymmetry of Indian summer monsoon rainfall trends in recent decades
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a mechanistic explanation of the observed asymmetry in the trends of seasonal mean rainfall during past three decades over the eastern and western parts of the country.
