Journal ArticleDOI
Short-term diuretic withdrawal in stable outpatients with mild heart failure and no fluid retention receiving optimal therapy: a double-blind, multicentre, randomized trial.
Luis Eduardo Paim Rohde,Marciane Rover,José Albuquerque de Figueiredo Neto,Luiz Cláudio Danzmann,Eduardo Gehling Bertoldi,Marcus Vinicius Simões,Odilson Marcos Silvestre,Antonio Luiz Pinho Ribeiro,Lidia Moura,Luís Beck-da-Silva,Debora Prado,Roberto T. Sant'Anna,Leonardo H Bridi,André Zimerman,Priscila Raupp da Rosa,Andreia Biolo +15 more
TL;DR: Diuretic withdrawal did not result in neither increased self-perception of dyspnoea nor increased need of furosemide reuse, and diuretic discontinuation may deserve consideration in stable outpatients with no signs of fluid retention receiving optimal medical therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Behavioral Heuristics in Coronary-Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
TL;DR: Behavioral Heuristics in CABG In an analysis of Medicare data, patients hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction 2 weeks after, as compared with 2 weeks before, their 80th birthday were less likely to have a heart attack.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aline Zimerman,Arthur Caye,André Zimerman,Giovanni Abrahão Salum,Ives Cavalcante Passos,Christian Kieling +5 more
TL;DR: A large number of the questioned people believe that descriptions of suicide in the media might affect behavior and that the young might be more vulnerable to this effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Short-term Effects of High-Dose Caffeine on Cardiac Arrhythmias in Patients With Heart Failure: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Priccila Zuchinali,Gabriela C. Souza,Mauricio Pimentel,Diego Chemello,André Zimerman,Vanessa Giaretta,Joyce Yukie Yamakawa Salamoni,Bianca de Moraes Fracasso,Leandro Ioschpe Zimerman,Luis Eduardo Paim Rohde +9 more
TL;DR: Acute ingestion of high doses of caffeine did not induce arrh rhythmias in patients with systolic heart failure and at high risk for ventricular arrhythmias and exercise test-derived variables, such as ventricular and supraventricular premature beats, duration of exercise, estimated peak oxygen consumption, and heart rate, were not influenced by caffeine ingestion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between serum lactate levels and mortality in patients with cardiogenic shock receiving mechanical circulatory support: a multicenter retrospective cohort study.
Fernando Luís Scolari,Daniel Schneider,Débora Vacaro Fogazzi,Miguel Gus,Marciane Rover,Marcely Gimenes Bonatto,Gustavo Neves de Araújo,André Zimerman,Daniel Sganzerla,Livia Adams Goldraich,Cassiano Teixeira,Gilberto Friedman,Carisi Anne Polanczyk,Luis Eduardo Paim Rohde,Regis Goulart Rosa,Rodrigo Vugman Wainstein +15 more
TL;DR: Serum lactate was an important prognostic biomarker in cardiogenic shock treated with temporary MCS and lactate clearance at 24 h were the strongest independent predictors of short-term survival.
