Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of the alternative lengthening of telomeres telomere maintenance mechanism in human cancer subtypes.
Christopher M. Heaphy,Andrea P. Subhawong,Seung-Mo Hong,Michael Goggins,Elizabeth A. Montgomery,Edward Gabrielson,George J. Netto,Jonathan I. Epstein,Tamara L. Lotan,William H. Westra,Ie Ming Shih,Christine A. Iacobuzio-Donahue,Anirban Maitra,Qing Kay Li,Charles G. Eberhart,Janis M. Taube,Dinesh Rakheja,Robert J. Kurman,Tzyy Choou Wu,Richard B.S. Roden,Pedram Argani,Angelo M. De Marzo,Luigi Terracciano,Michael Torbenson,Alan K. Meeker +24 more
TL;DR: The first report of ALT in carcinomas arising from the bladder, cervix, endometrium, esophagus, gallbladder, kidney, liver, and lung is reported, and ALT-positive cancers are predicted to be resistant to anti-telomerase therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
GATA3 expression in breast carcinoma: utility in triple-negative, sarcomatoid, and metastatic carcinomas,
Ashley Cimino-Mathews,Andrea P. Subhawong,Peter B. Illei,Rajni Sharma,Marc K. Halushka,Russell Vang,John H. Fetting,Ben Ho Park,Pedram Argani +8 more
TL;DR: Evaluating GATA3 expression in 86 invasive ductal carcinomas including triple-negative, Her-2, and luminal subtypes, in addition to 13 metaplastic carcinomas and in 34 fibroepithelial neoplasms concludes that GATA2 expression is maintained between matched primary and metastatic carcinoma including ER-negative cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical heterogeneity of Xp11 translocation renal cell carcinoma: Impact of fusion subtype, age, and stage
Carla LaShannon Ellis,John N. Eble,Andrea P. Subhawong,Guido Martignoni,Minghao Zhong,Marc Ladanyi,Jonathan I. Epstein,George J. Netto,Pedram Argani +8 more
TL;DR: Although systemic metastases portend a grim prognosis, regional lymph node involvement does not, at least in short-term follow-up, and the tendency for PRCC-TFE3 renal cell carcinomas to recur late warrants long-term following-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neural crest transcription factor Sox10 is preferentially expressed in triple-negative and metaplastic breast carcinomas
Ashley Cimino-Mathews,Andrea P. Subhawong,Hillary Elwood,Hind Nassar Warzecha,Rajni Sharma,Ben Ho Park,Janis M. Taube,Peter B. Illei,Pedram Argani +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the first systematic study of Sox10 expression in invasive ductal carcinomas subclassified by IHC-defined molecular subtype (100 cases), as well as in 24 cases of ductal cancer in situ and 44 mammary fibroepithelial neoplasms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Most Basal-like Breast Carcinomas Demonstrate the Same Rb-/p16+ Immunophenotype as the HPV-related Poorly Differentiated Squamous Cell Carcinomas Which They Resemble Morphologically
Andrea P. Subhawong,Ty K. Subhawong,Hind Nassar,Nina Kouprina,Shahnaz Begum,Russell Vang,William H. Westra,Pedram Argani +7 more
TL;DR: BLC and UTNC, but not HER-2, luminal A, or luminal B carcinomas, frequently demonstrate an Rb−/p16+ phenotype, similar to the HPV-related squamous cell carcinomas that BLC resemble morphologically.
