Subsistence and social change in central Eurasia: stable isotope analysis of populations spanning the Bronze Age transition
Alicia R. Ventresca Miller,Alicia R. Ventresca Miller,Emma Usmanova,Viktor Logvin,Saule Kalieva,Irina Shevnina,Andrei Logvin,Alina Kolbina,Aleksander Suslov,Karen Privat,Katherine Haas,Michael F. Rosenmeier,Michael F. Rosenmeier +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analysis of bone collagen was performed to understand dietary intake in two populations from the sites of Bestamak (MBA) and Lisakovsk (LBA) in northern Kazakhstan.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dental health, diet, and social transformations in the Bronze Age: Comparative analysis of pastoral populations in northern Kazakhstan
Alicia R. Ventresca Miller,Alicia R. Ventresca Miller,Emma Usmanova,Viktor Logvin,Saule Kalieva,Irina Shevnina,Andrei Logvin,Alina Kolbina,Aleksander Suslov +8 more
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the types of dental pathological conditions present stayed relatively uniform over time, suggesting similarities in dietary intake for populations at the sites of Bestamak and Lisakovsk, suggesting a noncariogenic diet with a high protein content and lack of carbohydrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
OSL dates for the ancient geometric earthworks of Kazakhstan
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the first dating results from these geometrical earthworks, which affiliate the earliest stages of this phenomenon to the Early Iron Age period (ca. 800 B.C.).
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of animal herding practices on the diversity of human stable isotope values in North Central Asia
Elina Ananyevskaya,Gaziz Akhatov,Valeriy Loman,Evgeniy Dmitriev,Antonina Ermolayeva,Valeriy Evdokimov,Andrius Garbaras,Alexander Goryachev,Alexey Kukushkin,Igor Kukushkin,Zholdasbek Kurmankulov,Andrei Logvin,Yana Lukpanova,Akan Onggar,Sergazy Sakenov,Justina Sapolaite,Irina Shevnina,Emma Usmanova,Zhanbolat Raimkulovich Utubayev,Viktor Varfolomeev,Dmitryi Voyakin,Sergei Yarygin,Giedre Motuzaite Matuzeviciute +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a collation of both new (n = 149) and previously published (n −585) carbon and nitrogen isotopic values measured on human bone collagen dating from the Bronze Age to Medieval period Northern Central Asia.
