Journal ArticleDOI
Petrogenetic processes in the ultramafic, alkaline and carbonatitic magmatism in the Kola Alkaline Province: A review
TL;DR: In this article, the authors classified the Devonian Kola Alkaline Carbonatite Province (KACP) into four groups: (a) primitive mantle-derived silica-under saturated silicate magmas; (b) evolved alkaline and nepheline syenites; (c) cumulate rocks; (d) carbonatites and phoscorites, some of which may also be cumulates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Petrology and geochemistry of xenoliths from the Northern Baltic shield: evidence for partial melting and metasomatism in the lower crust beneath an Archaean terrane
P.D. Kempton,Hilary Downes,E.V. Sharkov,V.R. Vetrin,Dmitri A. Ionov,Dennis A. Carswell,Andy Beard +6 more
TL;DR: Lower crustal xenoliths entrained in a Paleozoic ultramafic lamprophyre breccia pipe on Elovy island, Kola peninsula, Russia, represent some of the oldest lower crustal material yet investigated from Europe as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemistry and mineralogy of kimberlites from the Arkhangelsk Region, NW Russia: evidence for transitional kimberlite magma types
TL;DR: The Arkhangelsk kimberlite province (AKP) as discussed by the authors is located in the north of the Baltic Shield within the buried southeastern portion of the Kola-Kuloi craton.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mineralogy and geochemistry of Devonian ultramafic minor intrusions of the southern Kola Peninsula, Russia: implications for the petrogenesis of kimberlites and melilitites
TL;DR: The Terskii Coast kimberlites are anomalously potassic and significantly enriched in P and Ba compared to other group 1 kimbersites as discussed by the authors, indicating that an additional metasomatic K-rich phase (e.g., apatite or a complex K-Ba-phosphate) existed in the Kimberlite source.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mantle domains in the lithosphere beneath the French Massif Central: trace element and isotopic evidence from mantle clinopyroxenes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that the northern domain peridotites have experienced significantly more depletion than those from the southern domain, having undergone almost twice as much fractional melting.
