Raindrop size distribution measurements and associated rain parameters at a tropical location in the indian region

TL;DR: In this paper, the size distribution during the growing phase of a rain event is found biased towards larger drops compared to that during the later phase of the event for identical rain rates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of tropospheric delay over Indian region from MODIS, NCEP/NCAR data and ground based water vapor measurements at Kolkata

TL;DR: In this paper, a ground-based radiometer has been utilized to study the characteristics of tropospheric delay and compared it with the MODIS satellite observations over Kolkata (22.57°N, 88.37°E).
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation of Black Carbon Concentration Associated with Rain Events at a Tropical Urban Location

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the mass concentration of black carbon near the surface (within the planetary atmospheric boundary layer) using a seven-channel aethalometer at Kolkata, a metropolitan city in the Indian tropical region, during the period from June 2012 to May 2013.
Journal ArticleDOI

Millimeter wave attenuation in relation to rain rate distribution over a tropical station

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the rain rate distribution from which millimeterwave attenuation distribution have been attempted, and find that in their location (Calcutta: lat 23°N long 88.5°E) it fits well with normal distribution, and the cumulative distribution of rain rate also prompted the present authors to find out rain attenuation cumulative distribution for both terrestrial and earth-space paths in millimeter wave band.
