Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution and relationships of selected trace metals in molluscs and associated sediments from the Gulf of Aden, Yemen.
TL;DR: The degree of contamination of Gulf of Aden waters by the metals studied is discussed and the potential ability of molluscs, especially A. haddoni and T. coronatus, as biomonitors of metallic pollutants is postulated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the anthropogenic influx of metallic pollutants into Puck Bay, southern Baltic
TL;DR: In this paper, a sediment core from Puck Bay in the Gulf of Gdansk was used to investigate the anthropogenically enriched 15 elements with depth in two sediment cores.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution and association of trace metals in soft tissue and byssus of Mytella strigata and other benthal organisms from Mazatlan harbour, Mangrove Lagoon of the northwest coast of Mexico
TL;DR: Soft tissue and byssal threads are useful in detecting areas of selected metallic contaminants in coastal waters exposed to Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Cr, Co, Ni, Mn, and Fe in the tropical American region.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparative assessment of heavy metal accumulation in soft parts and byssus of mussels from subarctic, temperate, subtropical and tropical marine environments

TL;DR: Factor analysis demonstrated that mussels inhabiting extremely contaminated areas could be separated from mussels from other contaminated areas, and that metals such as Cd, Pb, Cu and Zn could be used to identify heavily contaminated samples while Co, Fe, Cr and Ni concentrations were good markers for exposure to inputs from different industrial sources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution and association of trace metals in soft tissue and byssus of mollusc Perna perna from the Gulf of Aden, Yemen
TL;DR: In this article, the concentration of Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Mn, and Fe in soft tissue and byssal threads of Perna perna from the Gulf of Aden, Yemen, were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometric (AAS) method.
