Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and predictors of obstructive sleep apnoea in young children with Down syndrome.
Catherine M. Hill,Catherine M. Hill,Hazel J. Evans,Heather Elphick,Michael Farquhar,Ruth M. Pickering,Ruth N. Kingshott,Jane Martin,Janine Reynolds,Anna Joyce,Carla Rush,Johanna Gavlak,Paul Gringras +12 more
TL;DR: Population-based screening for OSA is recommended in these children, and domiciliary cardiorespiratory polygraphy is an acceptable screening approach, although further research is required to understand the natural history, associated morbidity, optimal screening methodology and treatment modality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Supernatural Belief Is Not Modulated by Intuitive Thinking Style or Cognitive Inhibition
Miguel Farias,Valerie van Mulukom,Guy Kahane,Ute Kreplin,Anna Joyce,Pedro Luiz Martins Soares,Lluis Oviedo,Mathilde Hernu,Karolina Rokita,Julian Savulescu,Riikka Möttönen +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that it is premature to explain belief in gods as ‘intuitive’, and that other factors are likely to play a greater role in the emergence and maintenance of supernatural belief than cognitive style.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Contributes to Executive Function Impairment in Young Children with Down Syndrome.
Anna Joyce,Heather Elphick,Michael Farquhar,Paul Gringras,Hazel J. Evans,Romola S. Bucks,Jana Kreppner,Ruth N. Kingshott,Jane Martin,Janine Reynolds,Carla Rush,Johanna Gavlak,Catherine M. Hill,Catherine M. Hill +13 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that known EF difficulties in DS are already evident at this young age, and OSA is amenable to treatment and should be actively treated in these children to promote optimal cognitive development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sleep-disordered breathing and cognitive functioning in preschool children with and without Down syndrome.
Anna Joyce,Dagmara Dimitriou +1 more
TL;DR: Recommend that sleep problems are screened for and treated as even mild SDB may prompt poorer cognition and behaviour, and longitudinal studies are proposed as a necessary tool to assess the precise impact of sleep on cognitive development in accounting for individual differences in DS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Breastfeeding Experiences During the COVID-19 Lockdown in the United Kingdom: An Exploratory Study Into Maternal Opinions and Emotional States.
