Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal stromal cells-derived extracellular vesicles reprogramme macrophages in ARDS models through the miR-181a-5p-PTEN-pSTAT5-SOCS1 axis
Yue Su,Johnatas D. Silva,Declan Doherty,David Simpson,Daniel J. Weiss,Sara Rolandsson-Enes,Daniel F. McAuley,Cecilia O'Kane,Derek P. Brazil,Anna Krasnodembskaya +9 more
TL;DR: EVs were the key component of MSC CM responsible for anti-inflammatory modulation of human macrophages and the miR-181a-PTEN-pSTAT5-SOCS1 axis is a novel pathway responsible for immunomodulatory effect of M SC EVs in ARDS.
Journal Article
American Thoracic Society Meeting 2011. Am. J. Respir. Crit. Care Med. 2011;183: A1247: Allogeneic Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells Inhibit Bacterial Growth and Restore Normal Lung Fluid Balance in an Ex Vivo Perfused Human Lung Injured by live E.coli.
Journal ArticleDOI
Repair of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in COVID-19 by Stromal Cells (REALIST-COVID Trial): A Multicentre, Randomised, Controlled Trial.

McAuley,Cecilia O'Kane +31 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated safety and efficacy of ORBCEL-C (CD362-enriched, umbilical cord-derived MSCs) in COVID-related acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
Journal ArticleDOI
0995. Aspirin reduces neutrophilic pulmonary inflammation in a human model of acute respiratory distress syndrome induced by inhaled lipopolysaccharide
U Imran Hamid,JC Conlon,Shaun Spence,Anna Krasnodembskaya,Adrien Kissenpfennig,DF McAuley,Cecilia O'Kane +6 more
TL;DR: Patients on aspirin therapy prior to hospital admission had a reduced incidence of ARDS and by acetylating cyclooxygenase, aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation and generates anti-inflammatory molecules which modulate neutrophilic inflammation.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
