GUIDE study: double‐blind comparison of once‐daily gliclazide MR and glimepiride in type 2 diabetic patients

TL;DR: The European GUIDE study is the first large‐scale head‐to‐head comparison of two sulphonylureas designed for once‐daily administration used under conditions of everyday clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI

The continuous glucose monitoring system is useful for detecting unrecognized hypoglycemias in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes but is not better than frequent capillary glucose measurements for improving metabolic control

TL;DR: The CGMS is useful for detecting unrecognized hypoglycemias in type 1 and type 2 diabetic subjects; however, it is not better than standard capillary glucose measurements for improving metabolic control of type 1 diabetic subjects, regardless of the therapeutic regimen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Obesity-associated exosomal miRNAs modulate glucose and lipid metabolism in mice

TL;DR: The results support a role for exosomal miRNAs in the modulation of glucose and lipid metabolism in mice and may help to uncover thus far unexplored pathological mechanisms and provide us with novel therapeutic targets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid Insulinotropic Action of Low Doses of Bisphenol-A on Mouse and Human Islets of Langerhans: Role of Estrogen Receptor β

TL;DR: BPA behaves as a strong estrogen via nuclear ERβ and results obtained with BPA in mouse β-cells may be extrapolated to humans, suggesting that BPA should be considered as a risk factor for metabolic disorders in humans.
