TL;DR: This article found that women are less likely to carry credit card debt or engage in expensive credit card behaviors than men, and that financial fragility decreased among working women, but one-third still state they would not be able to cover an unexpected expense of $2,000 in a month's time.

Optimal Financial Literacy and Saving for Retirement

TL;DR: The authors developed a calibrated stochastic life cycle model which features endogeneous financial literacy accumulation and showed that the fraction of the population which is rationally "financially ignorant" depends on the level of labor income uncertainty as well as the generosity of the retirement system.
