Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of M2+ ions substitution on the structure of lanthanum hexaaluminates with magnetoplumbite structure

TL;DR: A series of compounds with the initial composition LaMxAl11O18+x has been studied with x ranging from 0 to 1, and M = Mn, Co, Cu as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yb3+ to Er3+ energy transfer and rate-equations formalism in the eye safe laser material Yb:Er:Ca2Al2SiO7

TL;DR: In this article, rate equations formalism is used to predict the population ratio of the Er3+ 4I132 levels involved in the 1.55 μm laser transition in the Yb:Er:CAS laser materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Room-temperature CW laser operation at /spl sim/1.55 /spl mu/m (eye-safe range) of Yb:Er and Yb:Er:Ce:Ca/sub 2/Al/sub 2/SiO/sub 7/ crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors achieved room-temperature CW laser operation at 1.55 /spl mu/m of Yb:Er:Ce:CAS single crystal, with a low threshold of 20 mW and a relatively high slope efficiency of /spl sim/5.5%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, ESR investigation, and optical properties of the potential vibronic laser material LaMgAl11−xCrxO19

TL;DR: In this paper, the ESR spectra and optical properties of this matrix with magnetoplumbite structure have been studied and three kinds of isolated sites have been identified by the 2 E → 4 A 2 transition associated with the Cr3+ ion doped into the 4f antiprism site, the regular 2a octahedral site, and the 12k octagonal site.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical Investigation of Er:Ca2Al2SiO7 and Yb:Ca2Al2SiO7 for Laser Applications in the Near Infrared

TL;DR: In this article, single crystals of the aluminosilicate Ca 2 Al 2 SiO 7 (CAS) activated with Er 3+ or Yb 3+ were grown by the floating zone method for several dopant contents.
