Phylogenetic analysis of Magnoliales and Myristicaceae based on multiple data sets: implications for character evolution
Hervé Sauquet,James A. Doyle,Tanya Scharaschkin,Thomas Borsch,Khidir W. Hilu,Lars W. Chatrou,Annick Le Thomas +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, phylogenetic relationships between Magnoliales and Myristicaceae were investigated using a morphological matrix (115 characters) and multiple molecular data sets (seven variable chloroplast loci and five more conserved genes; 14 536 aligned nucleotides).
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogeny, Molecular and Fossil Dating, and Biogeographic History of Annonaceae and Myristicaceae (Magnoliales)
TL;DR: Phylogenetic analyses of Myristicaceae confirm that the ancestral area was Africa‐Madagascar and that Asian taxa are derived, but the family as a whole show strikingly lower molecular divergence than Annonaceae, indicating either a much younger age or a marked slowdown in molecular evolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrastructural Characters of the Pollen Grains of African Annonaceae and Their Significance for the Phylogeny of Primitive Angiosperms

Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution and phylogenetic significance of pollen in Annonaceae
James A. Doyle,Annick Le Thomas +1 more
TL;DR: Optimization of pollen characters on a molecular tree confirms that granular monosulcate pollen, as in Anaxagorea and subfamily Ambavioideae, was ancestral in the family, but granular structure is derived for angiosperms as a whole, and exine characters are highly homoplastic in Annonaceae.
