Within 15 years the web has grown from a group work tool for scientists at CERN into a global information space with more than a billion users. Currently, it is both returning to its roots as a read/write tool and also entering a new, more social and participatory stage. These trends have led to a feeling that the web is entering a ‘second phase’ – a new, ‘improved’ Web version 2.0. But how justified is this perception?

Strategic development of business models: Implications of the web 2.0 for creating value on the internet

Social media generated from many individuals is playing a greater role in our daily lives and provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight on information flow and social networking within a society. Through data collection and analysis of its content, it supports a greater mapping and understanding of the evolving human landscape. The information disseminated through such media represents a deviation from volunteered geography, in the sense that it is not geographic information per se. Nevertheless, the message often has geographic footprints, for example, in the form of locations from where the tweets originate, or references in their content to geographic entities. We argue that such data conveys ambient geospatial information, capturing for example, people’s references to locations that represent momentary social hotspots. In this paper we address a framework to harvest such ambient geospatial information, and resulting hybrid capabilities to analyze it to support situational awareness as it relates to human activities. We argue that this emergence of ambient geospatial analysis represents a second step in the evolution of geospatial data availability, following on the heels of volunteered geographical information.

el articulo afronta el analisis de ciertos aspectos sociales y "culturales" del fenomeno blog; y lo hace con la ayuda metodologica de un modelo, el Nuevo Entorno Tecnosocial (NET) y el enfoque sociotecnico de dos "blogologos", estudiosos de la nueva realidad de la Red (Universal Digital). Tras repasar algunas definiciones, se destacan los aspectos principales de una posible cultura blog emergente y se relacionan con las propiedades del NET. Inmediatamente despues de un breve parentesis practico dedicado a las personas que se adentran por vez primera en la blogosfera, se presentan algunas reflexiones acerca de los blogs como evolucion de las comunidades virtuales y los cambios experimentados por los habitantes de la infociudad que nace inmersa en el NET, para terminar con la inquietante cuestion de si entre esos cambios no se incluira tambien una gradual transformacion de la
estructura y forma de la inteligencia humana.

In order to allow the development of joint degrees through heterogeneous E-Learning Systems, we propose a federation services architecture whose implementation will be based on Web Services. Our main objective is to allow E-Learning Systems to be able to work in a collaborative way; combining their data and functionality through the integration of their services. These services will be combined and federated, according to collaboration agreements between Universities. Joint degrees through E-Learning systems will allow the development of new joint curricula and the participation in the convergence of Higher Education.
