Journal ArticleDOI
Establishing the European diagnostic reference levels for interventional cardiology
Teemu Siiskonen,Olivera Ciraj-Bjelac,Jérémie Dabin,Ana Diklić,Joanna Domienik-Andrzejewska,J Farah,José María Fernández,Aoife Gallagher,C. J. Hourdakis,Slaven Jurković,Hannu Järvinen,Jukka Järvinen,Željka Knežević,C. Koukorava,Carlo Maccia,Marija Majer,Françoise Malchair,Lucia Riccardi,Chadia Rizk,Roberto M. Sánchez,Michael Sandborg,M. Sans Merce,Doris Šegota,Joanna Sierpowska,G. Simantirakis,L Sukupova,Zoi Thrapsanioti,Eliseo Vano +27 more
TL;DR: Results show that relatively new techniques such as TAVI and treatment of chronic total occlusion (CTO) often produce relatively high doses, and thus emphasises the need for use of an optimization tool such as DRL to assist in reducing patient exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Review of skin dose calculation software in interventional cardiology.
Françoise Malchair,Jérémie Dabin,Marine Deleu,Marta Sans Merce,Olivera Ciraj Bjelac,Aoife Gallagher,Carlo Maccia +6 more
TL;DR: Large differences among vendors made it clear that work remains to be done before an accurate and reliable skin dose mapping is available for all patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of out-of-field contact shielding on patients in medical imaging: A review of current guidelines, recommendations and legislative documents
Cristian Candela-Juan,Olivera Ciraj-Bjelac,Marta Sans Merce,Jérémie Dabin,Dario Faj,Aoife Gallagher,Hugo de las Heras Gala,Željka Knežević,Françoise Malchair,Francesca De Monte,G. Simantirakis,Chrysoula Theodorakou +11 more
TL;DR: The use of patient contact-shielding has become a topic of intensive scientific debate as discussed by the authors, while some studies have questioned the efficiency of using such shielding while others have highlighted the inconsistencies in its application.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accuracy of skin dose mapping in interventional cardiology: Comparison of 10 software products following a common protocol.
Jérémie Dabin,Valentin Blideanu,Olivera Ciraj Bjelac,Marine Deleu,Francesca De Monte,Joëlle Ann Feghali,Aoife Gallagher,Željka Knežević,Carlo Maccia,Françoise Malchair,Marta Sans Merce,G. Simantirakis +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the capabilities and accuracy of several skin dose mapping (SDM) software products were assessed on X-ray systems from the main manufacturers following a common protocol, and the MSD estimates generally agreed with the measurements within approximately 40% for fundamental irradiation set-ups and simulated procedures.
