ReportDOI
PVWatts Version 5 Manual
TL;DR: The NREL PVWatts R calculator as mentioned in this paper combines a number of sub-models to predict overall system performance, and includes several built-in parameters that are hidden from the user.
ReportDOI
System Advisor Model, SAM 2011.12.2: General Description
Paul Gilman,Aron Dobos +1 more
TL;DR: The U.S. Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory's System Advisor Model (SAM), Version 2013.9.20, released on September 9, 2013 is a computer model that calculates performance and financial metrics of renewable energy systems as mentioned in this paper.
Best Practices Handbook for the Collection and Use of Solar Resource Data for Solar Energy Applications
Manajit Sengupta,Aron Habte,Sarah Kurtz,Aron Dobos,Stefan Wilbert,Elke Lorenz,Tom Stoffel,Dave Renné,Christian A. Gueymard,Daryl R. Myers,Steve Wilcox,Philippe Blanc,Richard Perez +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present detailed information about solar resource data and the resulting data products needed for each stage of a solar energy project, from initial site selection to systems operations.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simplified model of uniform shading in large photovoltaic arrays
TL;DR: A novel analytical approximation of the effect of inter-row shading on large photovoltaic arrays is presented, allowing this method to be used in annual production estimation software – for instance, it is currently implemented in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s System Advisor Model program.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Improved Coefficient Calculator for the California Energy Commission 6 Parameter Photovoltaic Module Model
TL;DR: An improved algorithm for calculating the six parameters required by the California Energy Commission (CEC) photovoltaic (PV) Calculator module model achieves automated convergence for 99.87% of the 5487 modules in the CEC database and greatly enhance the accuracy and efficiency by which new modules can be characterized and approved for use.
