Comparison of subcutaneous low-molecular-weight heparin with intravenous standard heparin in proximal deep-vein thrombosis
Paolo Prandoni,A. W. A. Lensing,H. R. Büller,M. Carta,Alberto Cogo,M Vigo,D. Casara,Arturo Ruol,J W ten Cate +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that fixed-dose subcutaneous LMWH is at least as effective and safe as intravenous adjusted-dose heparin in the initial treatment of symptomatic proximal-vein thrombosis and since there is no need for laboratory monitoring with the LMWH regimen, patients with venous thromBosis can be treated at home.
Journal ArticleDOI
A survey of adverse events in 11,241 patients with chronic viral hepatitis treated with alfa interferon.
TL;DR: Treatment with interferon alfa may have fatal or life-threatening side effects, their incidence in this study being low (0.04% and 0.07%, respectively) and perhaps no different than in untreated patients with chronic viral hepatitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seroconversion from hepatitis B e antigen to anti-HBe in chronic hepatitis B virus infection
Giuseppe Realdi,A. Alberti,Massimo Rugge,Flavia Bortolotti,A. M. Rigoli,Federico Tremolada,Arturo Ruol +6 more
TL;DR: In HB s Ag-positive chronic active hepatitis presence of HB e Ag in serum identifies an early, although prolonged, phase of active virus replication that is frequently followed by the disappearance of complete virus particles from serum and appearance of anti-HB e .
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural history and prognostic factors for chronic hepatitis type B.
Giovanna Fattovich,L. Brollo,G. Giustina,Franco Noventa,P Pontisso,A. Alberti,Giuseppe Realdi,Arturo Ruol +7 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that patients with severe chronic active hepatitis and persistent hepatitis B virus replication are at very high risk of rapid progression to cirrhosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C viraemia and liver disease in symptom-free individuals with anti-HCV
A. Alberti,Giulia Morsica,Liliana Chemello,D. Cavalletto,Franco Noventa,P Pontisso,Arturo Ruol +6 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that serum HCV-RNA is a sensitive and specific marker of liver disease in anti-HCV-positive subjects, independent of ALT values, and the idea of the existence of "true" healthy carriers of HCV is challenged.
