Dynamical Mechanism of Sampling-Based Probabilistic Inference Under Probabilistic Population Codes

TL;DR: Two types of artificial NNs are trained to perform sampling-based probabilistic inference and it is found that sampling in RNN was performed by a mechanism that efficiently uses the properties of dynamical systems, unlike FFNN.

Dynamical Mechanism of Sampling-based Stochastic Inference under Probabilistic Population Codes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors trained two types of artificial neural networks: feedforward neural networks and recurrent neural networks (RNNs) to perform sampling based probabilistic inference, and compared the mechanisms of sampling in the RNN with those in the FFNN.
