Acute undifferentiated fever in India: a multicentre study of aetiology and diagnostic accuracy
Kristine Mørch,Kristine Mørch,Anand Manoharan,Sara Chandy,Novin Chacko,Gerardo Alvarez-Uria,Suvarna Patil,Anil Henry,Joel Nesaraj,Cijoy Kuriakose,Ashita Singh,Siby Jacob Kurian,Christel Gill Haanshuus,Nina Langeland,Nina Langeland,Bjørn Blomberg,Bjørn Blomberg,George Vasanthan Antony,Dilip Mathai +18 more
TL;DR: Malaria and dengue were the most common causes of fever in this study, and a high overlap between case definitions probably reflects high prevalence of prior infections, cross reactivity and subclinical infections, rather thanhigh prevalence of coinfections.
Journal ArticleDOI
A High Malaria Prevalence Identified by PCR among Patients with Acute Undifferentiated Fever in India.
Christel Gill Haanshuus,Sara Chandy,Anand Manoharan,Rosario Vivek,Dilip Mathai,Deepika Xena,Ashita Singh,Nina Langeland,Nina Langeland,Bjørn Blomberg,Bjørn Blomberg,George Vasanthan,Usha Sitaram,Jonathan Appasamy,Joel Nesaraj,Anil Henry,Suvarna Patil,Gerardo Alvarez-Uria,Lois Armstrong,Kristine Mørch +19 more
TL;DR: This research presents a novel probabilistic procedure that allows for direct measurement of the response of the immune system to earthquake-triggered landsliding.

Genomic analysis unveils the role of genome degradation events and gene flux in the emergence and persistence of S. Paratyphi A lineages
Jobin John Jacob,Agila Kumari Pragasam,Karthick Vasudevan,A. V.,Monisha Priya T,T. T,Pallab Ray,Madhu Gupta,Arti Kapil,Su Bai,Savitha Nagaraj,Karnika Saigal,Temsunaro Rongsen Chandola,Mari Thomas,Ashish Bavdekar,Sheena Evelyn Ebenezer,Jayanthi Shastri,Anuradha De,Shantha Dutta,Anna Perry Alexander,Roshine Mary Koshy,Dasaratha Ramaiah Jinka,Ashita Singh,Sunil Kumar Srivastava,Shalini Anandan,Gordon Dougan,Jacob John,Gagandeep Kang,Balaji Veeraraghavan,Ankur Mutreja +29 more
TL;DR: It is documented that the genome degradation events and gene acquisitions or losses play a major role in the evolution of new S. Paratyphi A lineages/sub-lineages and that the six characteristic missense mutations associated with the lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis genes of S.Paratyphoid fever confer only a low structural impact and would therefore have minimal impact on vaccine effectiveness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Grassly,Gagandeep Kang +30 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors conducted weekly surveillance for acute febrile illness and measured the incidence of blood culture-confirmed typhoid fever in a prospective cohort of children 6 months to 14 years old at three urban and one rural sites in India between 2017 and 2020.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical features and risk factors for death in acute undifferentiated fever: A prospective observational study in rural community hospitals in six states of India
Kristine Mørch,Anand Manoharan,Sara Chandy,Ashita Singh,Cijoy K Kuriakose,Suvarna Patil,Anil Henry,Novin Chacko,Gerardo Alvarez-Uria,Joel Nesaraj,Bjørn Blomberg,Siby Jacob Kurian,Christel Gill Haanshuus,George V. Antony,Nina Langeland,Dilip Mathai +15 more
TL;DR: Bleeding, cerebral dysfunction, respiratory failure and oliguria at admission, suggestive of severe organ failure secondary to systemic infection, were predictors of death in patients hospitalized with AUF in India.
