Inequality, Communication and the Avoidance of Disastrous Climate Change in a Public Goods Game

TL;DR: In this article, a group of people who can reach a fixed target sum through successive money contributions, knowing that if they fail, they will lose all their remaining money with 50% probability, were given the option to communicate intended contributions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Climate negotiations under scientific uncertainty

TL;DR: Experimental evidence is provided, grounded in an analytical framework, showing that the fear of crossing a dangerous threshold can turn climate negotiations into a coordination game, making collective action to avoid a dangerous thresholds virtually assured.
Journal ArticleDOI

The dispersion and development of consumer preferences for genetically modified food — A meta-analysis

TL;DR: In this article, a meta-analysis of 51 primary studies reporting a total of 114 genetically modified food valuation estimates is presented, showing that elicitation methods and formats used in the primary studies affect valuation estimates much more than do sample characteristics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensitivity of collective action to uncertainty about climate tipping points

TL;DR: This paper found that behaviour changes dramatically either side of a dividing line for this threshold uncertainty, when uncertainty is only slightly larger than the threshold, catastrophe is not averted, and that collective action to avoid a catastrophe will only take place if uncertainty about the threshold for dangerous climate change is reduced.
