Recent Advances in the N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC)-Organocatalyzed Stetter Reaction and Related Chemistry

TL;DR: In this paper, the Stetter reaction has been used in the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalyzed umpolung of aldehydes followed by their interception with activated carbon-carbon double bonds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enantioselective N-Heterocyclic Carbene-Catalyzed Annulations of 2-Bromoenals with 1,3-Dicarbonyl Compounds and Enamines via Chiral α,β-Unsaturated Acylazoliums

TL;DR: In this article, the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-cata- lyzed generation of chiral a,b-unsaturated acylazoli- ums from 2-bromoenals followed by their intercep- tion with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds or enamines, the formal (3+3) annulation reaction was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

N-Heterocyclic-Carbene-Catalyzed Umpolung of Imines

TL;DR: The NHC-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of aldimines bearing a Michael acceptor resulted in the formation of biologically important 2-(hetero)aryl indole 3-acetic-acid derivatives in moderate to good yields.
Journal ArticleDOI

N-Heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed enantioselective synthesis of functionalized cyclopentenes via α,β-unsaturated acyl azoliums

TL;DR: The organocascade reaction of modified enals with malonic ester derivatives having a γ-benzoyl group involves the Michael-intramolecular aldol-β-lactonization-decarboxylation sequence to deliver cyclopentenes in good yields and excellent ee values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of 4-Difluoromethylquinolines by NHC-Catalyzed Umpolung of Imines

TL;DR: The N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalyzed umpolung of aldimines for the synthesis of 4-difluoromethylquinoline derivatives is reported and the key to the success is the NHC generated from the bicyclic triazolium salt using DBU as the base.
