Criteria for the clinical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis
TL;DR: From good pathologic and epidemiologic studies it is considered that the disease multiple sclerosis is acquired in youth, particularly in areas of high risk, and that following the beginning of central nervous system pathology, there is a clinical quiescent period of varying duration before the onset of symptoms.

TL;DR: This preliminary report, based on observations of the first 135 cases entered, demonstrates that adequate randomization of patients can be obtained in this disease and describes means for reasonably accurate evaluation of the many clinical changes seen in multiple sclerosis patients under treatment.
