Journal ArticleDOI
Nab-paclitaxel versus solvent-based paclitaxel in neoadjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer (GeparSepto—GBG 69): a randomised, phase 3 trial
Michael Untch,Christian Jackisch,Andreas Schneeweiss,B. Conrad,Bahriye Aktas,Carsten Denkert,Holger Eidtmann,Hermann Wiebringhaus,Sherko Kümmel,Jörn Hilfrich,Mathias Warm,Stefan Paepke,Marianne Just,Claus Hanusch,John Hackmann,Jens-Uwe Blohmer,Michael R. Clemens,Silvia Darb-Esfahani,Wolfgang D. Schmitt,Serban-Dan Costa,Bernd Gerber,Knut Engels,Valentina Nekljudova,Sibylle Loibl,Gunter von Minckwitz +24 more
TL;DR: The GeparSepto (GBG 69) trial assessed whether weekly nab-paclitaxel could increase the proportion of patients achieving pathological complete response compared with weekly solvent-based pac Litaxel, both followed by epirubicin plus cyclophosphamide as neoadjuvant treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Luteinizing Hormone–Releasing Hormone Agonist on Ovarian Function After Modern Adjuvant Breast Cancer Chemotherapy: The GBG 37 ZORO Study
Bernd Gerber,Gunter von Minckwitz,Heinrich Stehle,Toralf Reimer,Ricardo Felberbaum,Nikolai Maass,Dorothea Fischer,Harald Sommer,B. Conrad,Olaf Ortmann,Tanja Fehm,Mahdi Rezai,Keyur Mehta,Sibylle Loibl +13 more
TL;DR: Premenopausal patients with breast cancer receiving goserelin simultaneously with modern neoadjuvant chemotherapy did not experience statistically significantly less amenorrhea 6 months after end of chemotherapy compared with those receiving chemotherapy alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Infection in Golden Syrian Hamsters: Importance of STAT2 in Preventing Disease and Effective Treatment with Favipiravir
Brian B. Gowen,Jonna B. Westover,Jinxin Miao,Jinxin Miao,Arnaud J. Van Wettere,Johanna D. Rigas,Brady T. Hickerson,Kie-Hoon Jung,Rong Li,B. Conrad,Skot Nielson,Yousuke Furuta,Zhongde Wang +12 more
TL;DR: A novel model of SFTS in hamsters genetically engineered to be deficient in a protein that helps protect humans and animals against viral infections is described, which suggests that the new SFTS model will be an excellent resource to better understand SFTSV infection and disease as well as a valuable tool for evaluating promising antiviral therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
German Adjuvant Intergroup Node-Positive Study: A Phase III Trial to Compare Oral Ibandronate Versus Observation in Patients With High-Risk Early Breast Cancer
Gunter von Minckwitz,Volker Möbus,Andreas Schneeweiss,Jens Huober,Christoph Thomssen,Michael Untch,Christian Jackisch,Ingo Diel,D. Elling,B. Conrad,Rolf Kreienberg,Volkmar Müller,Hans-Joachim Lück,Ingo Bauerfeind,Michael R. Clemens,Marcus Schmidt,Stefanie Noeding,Helmut Forstbauer,Jana Barinoff,Antje Belau,Valentina Nekljudova,Nadia Harbeck,Sibylle Loibl +22 more
TL;DR: Adjuvant treatment with oral ibandronate did not improve outcome of patients with high-risk early breast cancer who received dose-dense chemotherapy and was not enough to demonstrate an increase in disease-free survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized phase 2 study comparing EC or CMF versus nab-paclitaxel plus capecitabine as adjuvant chemotherapy for nonfrail elderly patients with moderate to high-risk early breast cancer (ICE II-GBG 52).
Gunter von Minckwitz,B. Conrad,Toralf Reimer,Thomas Decker,Holger Eidtmann,Wolfgang Eiermann,John Hackmann,Volker Möbus,Frederik Marmé,J. Potenberg,Elmar Stickeler,Eike Simon,Christoph Thomssen,Jens Huober,Carsten Denkert,Joachim Alfer,Christian Jackisch,Valentina Nekljudova,Nicole Burchardi,Sibylle Loibl +19 more
TL;DR: Although greater than 40% of breast cancers occur in patients aged ≥65 years, these individuals are frequently undertreated and taxane‐based adjuvant chemotherapy is considered the treatment of choice but to the authors' knowledge has only limited evidence in elderly patients.
