This book by a teacher of statistics (as well as a consultant for \"experimenters\") is a comprehensive study of the philosophical background for the statistical design of experiment. It is necessary to have some facility with algebraic notation and manipulation to be able to use the volume intelligently. The problems are presented from the theoretical point of view, without such practical examples as would be helpful for those not acquainted with mathematics. The mathematical justification for the techniques is given. As a somewhat advanced treatment of the design and analysis of experiments, this volume will be interesting and helpful for many who approach statistics theoretically as well as practically. With emphasis on the \"why,\" and with description given broadly, the author relates the subject matter to the general theory of statistics and to the general problem of experimental inference. Tribology of electroless nickel coatings – A review

The electrochemical capacitor (EC), also called as supercapacitor, is an energy storage device possessing a unlimited life-cycle and high power density known to store energy in the double-layer or through supercapacitance as a result of an applied potential. Fundamental values in relation to the major chemical and physical qualities of electrode materials are explained in the following review, with carbon-made electrodes, specially activated carbon highlighted in regards to their improvement of the typical power and energy densities of ECs. Supercapacitive materials, remarkably transition metal oxides are revealed by the potential to further develop EC performance through synergistic effects and asymmetric design. Recently, several chemically deposited metal oxide thin film electrodes as well as ruthenium oxide, manganese oxide, cobalt oxide, nickel oxide, iron oxide, ferrites etc., have been evaluated in supercapacitors. This review presents supercapacitor performance data of metal oxide thin film electrodes on activated carbon offered by electroless plating as a suitable, fast and economical technique. The supercapacitors demonstrated the specific capacitance (Sc) principles, which are relatively comparable with bulk electrode values; therefore, it is likely that metal oxide films will continue to play a major role in supercapacitor technology and are expected to significantly develop the capabilities of these devices in the near future.

Electroless nickel phosphorus plating process has been studied considering pure copper (99·99%) as a substrate material. Preliminary experiments were performed to obtain the autocatalytic deposition of electroless Ni–P coatings on copper. Deposited percentages of nickel and phosphorus in electroless Ni–P coatings have been evaluated by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) and these percentages have been considered as response variables for statistical analysis. The individual and combined effects of process parameters on deposited percentages of nickel and phosphorus have been studied. Full factorial experimental design, regression analysis and Student’s t test have been used to identify the influencing process parameters. It has been observed that reducing agent (NaH2PO2.H2O) significantly affects the percentages of nickel and phosphorus contents in the Ni–P coatings. Statistical study of nickel and phosphorus contents in electroless Ni–P coatings

The wide choice of materials, today’s engineers are posed with a big challenge for the right selection of a material and as well as the right selection of a manufacturing process for an application. Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites is a relatively new material among all the engineering materials. It has proved its position in automobile, aerospace, and many other engineering applications due its wear resistance properties and due to its substantial hardness. One of the most important criteria is forgeability by which the workability of the material can be determined. The nature of distribution of reinforcing phase in the matrix greatly influenced the properties of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites. The forgeability of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites, which are produced by powder metallurgy method, are greatly depends on the size and percentage of reinforcement materials, compacting load, sintering temperature and soaking time etc. In this present work, the forgeability of Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites reinforced with silicon carbide (400 meshes) has investigated. A comparison have been made with different types of Aluminum Silicon Carbide Metal Matrix Composite materials contains 0%5%,10%,15%&20% by weight of silicon carbide. The mechanical properties like hardness of the different composites have also investigated. It is observed that the forgeabilty of the composites decreases with increasing the wt% of SiC but the mechanical properties like hardness enhanced on increasing the wt% of SiC.
