Evaluation of climate models
Gregory M. Flato,Jochem Marotzke,Babatunde J. Abiodun,Pascale Braconnot,Sin Chan Chou,William D. Collins,Peter M. Cox,Fatima Driouech,S. Emori,Veronika Eyring,Chris E. Forest,Peter J. Gleckler,Eric Guilyardi,Christian Jakob,V. Kattsov,C. J. C. Reason,M. Rummukainen +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, an overview of model capabilities as assessed in this chapter, including improvements, or lack thereof, relative to models assessed in the AR4, is presented, along with an assessment of recent work connecting model performance to the detection and attribution of climate change as well as to future projections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of charcoal production on soil physical properties in Ghana
Philip G. Oguntunde,Philip G. Oguntunde,Philip G. Oguntunde,Babatunde J. Abiodun,Ayodele Ebenezer Ajayi,Ayodele Ebenezer Ajayi,Nick van de Giesen,Nick van de Giesen +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of charcoal production on soil physical, including hydrological, properties, were studied in the forest-savannah transition zone of Ghana, where core and composite samples from 12 randomly selected sites across the width of Kotokosu watershed were taken from 0-10 cm layer at charcoal-site soils and adjacent field soils (control).
Journal ArticleDOI
Rainfall trends in Nigeria, 1901-2000
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used standard tests to examine the existence of trend in annual and monthly rainfall of Nigeria over the last century, and found that 1950s was the wettest decade (+0.84) while 1980s was driest (−1.19), with the two decades between 1970 and 1990 being drier than any other comparable period in the last decade.

Simulation of West African monsoon using RegCM3 Part II: impacts of deforestation and desertification
Babatunde J. Abiodun,Jeremy S. Pal,Jeremy S. Pal,E. A. Afiesimama,William J. Gutowski,Akintayo Adedoyin +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the feedback mechanisms between land cover and the monsoon in West African using the International Centre for Theoretical Physics Regional Climate Model (RegCM3).
Journal ArticleDOI
Simulation of West African monsoon using the RegCM3. Part I: Model validation and interannual variability
TL;DR: In this article, the mean state and the interannual variability of the West African climate as simulated by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Regional Climate Model version 3 (RegCM3) over the period 1979 through 1990 using the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) reanalysis data as lateral boundary conditions.
