Journal ArticleDOI
Procalcitonin and C-reactive protein as markers of systemic inflammatory response syndrome severity in critically ill children.
Corsino Rey,Marta Los Arcos,Andrés Concha,Alberto Medina,Soledad Prieto,Pablo Martinez,Belén Prieto +6 more
TL;DR: PCT is a better diagnostic marker of sepsis in critically ill children than CRP, and especially PCT may become a helpful clinical tool to stratify patients with SIRS according to disease severity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Usefulness of cell-free plasma DNA, procalcitonin and C-reactive protein as markers of infection in febrile patients
TL;DR: Normal concentrations of CF-DNA can exclude the presence of an infection in febrile patients, and very high concentrations stratify the severity of infections, showing a high prognostic value to predict mortality in the absence of other causes for elevated CF- DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI
New biomarkers in diagnosis of early onset preeclampsia and imminent delivery prognosis.
Indira Álvarez-Fernández,Belén Prieto,Verónica Rodríguez,Yolanda Ruano,Ana I Escudero,Francisco V. Álvarez +5 more
TL;DR: The new cut-off values for the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio adjusted by the gestational age at clinical presentation can be used to rule out PE at obstetric triage and to predict imminent delivery with better accuracy than the cutpoint currently accepted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of proadrenomedullin in severe sepsis and septic shock patients with community- acquired pneumonia
Borja Suberviola,Álvaro Castellanos-Ortega,Javier Llorca,Fernando Ortiz,David Iglesias,Belén Prieto +5 more
TL;DR: In this study MR-proADM levels correlate with increasing severity of illness and death and offer additional risk stratification in high-risk CAP patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin D deficiency at pediatric intensive care admission
Corsino Rey,David Sánchez-Arango,Jesús López-Herce,Pablo Martínez-Camblor,Irene García-Hernández,Belén Prieto,Zamir Francisco Pallavicini +6 more
TL;DR: Hypovitaminosis D incidence was high in PICU patients and was not associated with higher prediction of risk mortality scores, and vitamin D deficiency was defined as < 20 ng/mL levels.
