Journal ArticleDOI
Alpha-defensin and the Synovasure lateral flow device for the diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
TL;DR: The lateral flow cassette has a significantly lower performance and pooled results are comparable to the leucocyte esterase test, while laboratory‐based alpha‐defensin testing remains a promising tool for diagnosing PJI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bougie-related airway trauma: dangers of the hold-up sign.
TL;DR: It is recommended that the hold‐up sign should no longer be used with single‐use bougies, and Clinicians should be cautious when eliciting this sign using the Eschmann re‐usable bougie.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two doses of the SARS-CoV-2 BNT162b2 vaccine enhance antibody responses to variants in individuals with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Aithal,Guruprasad P. Aithal,Amrita Vijay,Patrick J. Tighe,Jonathan K. Ball,Jonathan K. Ball,Ana M. Valdes,Benjamin J Ollivere +29 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of prior infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) on the response to vaccination is investigated, and it is shown that additional vaccine boosts may be beneficial in improving immune responses against future variants of concern.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lateral unicompartmental knee replacements: early results from a District General Hospital
TL;DR: The follow-up Oxford knee scores support the use of this technique as an alternative to total knee replacement but with no significant difference in functional outcome, and may encourage a more cautious approach to the using of a mobile-bearing prosthesis in favour of a fixed- bearing prosthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A method for rapid production of subject specific finite element meshes for electrical impedance tomography of the human head.
Martin Vonach,Ben A Marson,Mark M. Yun,Jorge Cardoso,Marc Modat,Sebastien Ourselin,David Holder +6 more
TL;DR: The proposed protocol provides a rapid and practicable method for generation of patient-specific FE meshes of the human head that are suitable for EIT and could be extended to other body regions and might confer benefits with other imaging techniques such as optical tomography or EEG inverse source imaging.
