Journal ArticleDOI
Economic dispatch of a single micro-gas turbine under CHP operation
TL;DR: An accurate optimization model is developed for solving the economic dispatch problem of integrating the turbine into the grid, and the financial benefit and viability of this approach is examined on four detailed scenarios using real data on energy demand profiles and electricity tariffs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Particle Image Velocity Investigation of a High Speed Centrifugal Compressor Diffuser: Spanwise and Loading Variations
TL;DR: In this article, particle image velocity is used to characterize the spanwise and circumferential variations in the flow features in the vaned diffuser passage of a transonic centrifugal compressor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local Heat Transfer Dependency on Thermal Boundary Condition in Ribbed Cooling Channel Geometries
Beni Cukurel,Tony Arts +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of thermal boundary condition on cooling channel applications are quantified by using infrared thermometry measurements over the wetted surface and via an energy balance within the solid, conjugate heat transfer coefficients are calculated over a single rib-pitch.
Journal ArticleDOI
Color theory perception of steady wide band liquid crystal thermometry
TL;DR: A color theory perspective to steady wideband thermochromic liquid crystals (TLCs) is presented towards application in surface temperature measurements in this article, where TLC color response experiments are conducted on an ex situ calibration plate under various illuminant spectra, and for a broad range of camera angle and white balance configurations.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Film Cooling Extraction Effects on the Aero-Thermal Characteristics of Rib Roughened Cooling Channel Flow
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of film cooling holes on turbine internal cooling passages were evaluated in a generic stationary model, with evenly distributed rib-type perturbators at 90 deg, constituting a passage blockage ratio of H/Dh ¼ 0.3 and pitch-to-height ratio of P/H ¼ 10.
