Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of individual and mixed extracts of two tree species on in vitro gas production kinetics of a high concentrate diet fed to growing lambs

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of different doses of Leucaena leucocephala (LL) and Salix babylonica (SB) extracts, rich in secondary metabolites, and their mixture (LLSB, 1:1, v/v) on in vitro gas production and some ruminal fermentation patterns such as truly degraded substrate (TDS), short chain fatty acids (SCFA), and microbial protein production (MP) fed to growing lambs.
Journal ArticleDOI

The relationship between fertility and lactation characteristics in Holstein cows on United Kingdom commercial dairy farms.

TL;DR: Large data sets from a national milk recording scheme in the United Kingdom were used to calculate the genetic and phenotypic correlations between calving interval and a range of lactation traits within the Holstein breed, and possible strategies were suggested for improving the relationship between milk yield and fertility in dairy cows.
Journal ArticleDOI

On-farm comparison of feeding strategies based on forages for small-scale dairy production systems in the highlands of central mexico

TL;DR: Results demonstrate the successful integration of grazed pasture and maize silage for the efficient production of milk, and provide evidence on the productive use of limited campesino land resources in the face of unviable economic conditions for maize grain production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Socioeconomic and productive characterization of dual-purpose farms oriented to milk production in a subtropical region of Mexico

TL;DR: Milk production provides economic stability to DPF, whereas FL and low input use are key elements that allow low costs in the production of milk and calves in DPF in Central Mexico.
