Competitive sorption of molybdate and phosphate in Andisols

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of both pH and phosphate concentrations on molyb-date sorption by four Chilean Andisols with varying chemical properties were examined, and the competitive sorp-tion data were adequately described by the multicomponent Freundlich equations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing the capacity of some New Zealand clays for decolourizing vegetable oil and butter

TL;DR: In this paper, the decolourizing capacity of an acid pedogenic halloysite-rich clay from the Bay of Islands, which had been further acidified to pH 1.5, closely matched that of Tonsil Optimum FF, a standard acid-activated clay based on montmorillonite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of biochar addition on short-term N2O and CO2 emissions during repeated drying and wetting of an anthropogenic alluvial soil.

TL;DR: Under both drying–wetting and constantly moist conditions, biochar amendment significantly increased cumulative CO2 emission and there was a significant reduction in cumulative N2O emission, indicating that the addition of biochar to irrigated agricultural soils may effectively slow down global warming in arid regions of China.
Journal ArticleDOI

Geochemical characteristics of heavy metal contamination induced by a sudden wastewater discharge from a smelter

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the distribution and potential mobility of heavy metals in soils flooded by smelting wastewater in Hechi, China, and measured total heavy metal/metalloid levels in topsoil, profile and profile pore-water taken in-situ.
