Journal ArticleDOI
Pleural Effusion in Adults-Etiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment.
Berthold Jany,Tobias Welte +1 more
TL;DR: The proper treatment of pleural effusion can be determined only after meticulous differential diagnosis, and the range of therapeutic options has recently become much wider.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mucin gene expression in rat airways following infection and irritation.
TL;DR: Airway mucin hybridization signals in rats that were both infected with Sendai virus and exposed to SO2 were more intense than those in rats with infection alone, suggesting that pathogen-and irritant-induced hypersecretion may be partly controlled at the level of mucin mRNA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Airway obstruction in systolic heart failure--COPD or congestion?
Susanne Brenner,Gülmisal Güder,Dominik Berliner,Nikolas Deubner,Kilian Fröhlich,Georg Ertl,Berthold Jany,Berthold Jany,Christiane E. Angermann,Stefan Störk +9 more
TL;DR: A valid diagnosis of COPD in SHF demands serial PFT under stable conditions with special attention to hyperinflation, and COPD proven by PFT is associated with an increased all-cause mortality risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing to Detect Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension in Patients with Normal Echocardiography
Matthias Held,M Grün,R Holl,G Hübner,Ralf Kaiser,Sabine Karl,Martin Kolb,Hans-Joachim Schäfers,Heinrike Wilkens,Berthold Jany +9 more
TL;DR: CPET is a useful noninvasive diagnostic tool for the detection of CTEPH in patients with suspected PH but normal echocardiography and the 4-P-CPET score provides a high sensitivity with the highest specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Characterization of Patients with Chronic Thromboembolic Disease
Matthias Held,Philipp Kolb,M Grün,Berthold Jany,G Hübner,Aleksandar Grgic,Regina Holl,Hans-Joachim Schaefers,Heinrike Wilkens +8 more
TL;DR: Despite an mPAP of <25 mm Hg, subjects with CTED show objective functional impairment and similar limitations to patients with CTEPH.
