This review describes recent advances in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) with an emphasis on its novel applications to various electrochemistry-related problems. Section 1 discusses the development of new EIS techniques to reduce measurement time. For this purpose, various forms of multisine EIS techniques were first developed via a noise signal synthesized by mixing ac waves of various frequencies, followed by fast Fourier transform of the signal and the resulting current. Subsequently, an entirely new concept was introduced in which true white noise was used as an excitation source, followed by Fourier transform of both excitation and response signals. Section 2 describes novel applications of the newly developed techniques to time-resolved impedance measurements as well as to impedance imaging. Section 3 is devoted to recent applications of EIS techniques, specifically traditional measurements in various fields with a special emphasis on biosensor detections.

Progress in metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells: A review

This paper presents a review of studies on mathematical modeling of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) with respect to the tubular and planar configurations. In this work, both configurations are divided into five subsystems and the factors such as mass/energy/momentum transfer, diffusion through porous media, electrochemical reactions with and without CO oxidation, shift and reforming reactions, and polarization losses inside the subsystems are discussed. Using variety of fuels fed to SOFCs is issued and their effect on the system is compared briefly. A short review of solid oxide fuel cell configurations and different flow manifolding are also presented in this study. Novel models based on statistical data-driven approach existing in the literatures are considered shortly. Although many studies on solid oxide fuel cells modeling have been done, still more research needs to be done to improve the models in order to predict the fuel cell behaviors more accurately. At the end of this paper the works and studies that can be done for improving the fuel cell models is suggested and pointed by the authors.

Mathematical modeling of solid oxide fuel cells: A review

Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), in which a sinusoidal test voltage or current is applied to the sample under test to measure its impedance over a suitable frequency range, is a powerful technique to investigate the electrical properties of a large variety of materials. In practice, the measured impedance spectra, usually fitted with an equivalent electrical model, represent an electrical fingerprint of the sample providing an insight into its properties and behavior. EIS is used in a broad range of applications as a quick and easily automated technique to characterize solid, liquid, semiliquid, organic as well as inorganic materials. This paper presents an updated review of EIS main implementations and applications.
