GRADE guidelines: 6. Rating the quality of evidence-imprecision
Gordon H. Guyatt,Andrew D Oxman,Regina Kunz,Jan Brozek,Pablo Alonso-Coello,David Rind,Philip J. Devereaux,Victor M. Montori,Bo Freyschuss,Gunn Elisabeth Vist,Roman Jaeschke,John W Williams,Mohammad Hassan Murad,David A. Sinclair,Yngve Falck-Ytter,Joerg J Meerpohl,Craig Whittington,Kristian Thorlund,Jeffrey C Andrews,Holger J. Schünemann +19 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that examination of 95% confidence intervals (CIs) provides the optimal primary approach to decisions regarding imprecision and rating down the quality of evidence is required if clinical action would differ if the upper versus the lower boundary of the CI represented the truth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medical observation, compared with parathyroidectomy, for asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism: a prospective, randomized trial.
Jens Bollerslev,Svante Jansson,Charlotte L. Mollerup,Jörgen Nordenström,Eva Lundgren,Ove Tørring,Jan-Erik Varhaug,Marek Baranowski,Sylvi Aanderud,Celina Franco,Bo Freyschuss,Gunhild A. Isaksen,Thor Ueland,Thord Rosén +13 more
TL;DR: Asymptomatic patients with mild pHPT have decreased QoL and more psychological symptoms than normal controls, and no benefit of operative treatment, compared with medical observation, was found on these measures so far.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioelectrical Impedance Underestimates Total and Truncal Fatness in Abdominally Obese Women
TL;DR: To compare estimates of total and truncal fatness from eight‐electrode bioelectrical impedance analysis equipment (BIA8) with those from DXA in centrally obese women, the secondary aim was to examine BMI and waist circumference as proxy measures for percentage total body fat andtruncal body fat percentage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical training preserves bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with forearm fractures and low bone mineral density
TL;DR: A small but positive effect of physical exercise on hip BMD in postmenopausal women with low BMD is indicated, possibly due to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Testing the HTA Core Model: Experiences from two pilot projects
Iris Pasternack,Heidi Anttila,Marjukka Mäkelä,Tuija Ikonen,Pirjo Räsänen,Kristian Lampe,Hans van Brabandt,Irina Cleemput,Chris De Laet,Marco Marchetti,Pietro Refolo,Dario Sacchini,Regina Kunz,Alain J Nordmann,Dagmar Lühmann,Bo Freyschuss +15 more
TL;DR: The HTA Core Model can be developed into a platform that enables and encourages true HTA collaboration in terms of distribution of work and maximum utilization of a common pool of structured HTA information for national HTA reports.
