Human Papillomavirus and Papanicolaou Tests to Screen for Cervical Cancer
Pontus Naucler,Walter Ryd,Sven Törnberg,Anders Strand,Göran Wadell,Kristina Elfgren,Thomas Rådberg,Björn Strander,Bo Johansson,Ola Forslund,Bengt-Göran Hansson,Eva Rylander,Joakim Dillner +12 more
TL;DR: The addition of an HPV test to the Pap test to screen women in their mid-30s for cervical cancer reduces the incidence of grade 2 or 3 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or cancer detected by subsequent screening examinations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of HPV DNA testing with cytology triage and/or repeat HPV DNA testing in primary cervical cancer screening.
Pontus Naucler,Walter Ryd,Sven Törnberg,Anders Strand,Göran Wadell,Kristina Elfgren,Thomas Rådberg,Björn Strander,Ola Forslund,Bengt-Göran Hansson,Björn Hagmar,Bo Johansson,Eva Rylander,Joakim Dillner +13 more
TL;DR: Primary HPV DNA-based screening with cytology triage and repeat HPV DNA testing of cytology-negative women appears to be the most feasible cervical screening strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of multiple PCR primer sets for optimal detection of human papillomavirus.
Frank Karlsen,Mina Kalantari,Andrew Jenkins,Erik O. Pettersen,Gunnar B. Kristensen,Ruth Holm,Bo Johansson,Björn Hagmar +7 more
TL;DR: The conclusion is that in PCR detection systems, multiple consensus primers and type-specific primers should be used in order to detect all patients harboring HPV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA and the EBV-determined nuclear antigen (EBNA) in Burkitt lymphoma biopsies and other lymphoproliferative malignancies.
TL;DR: It is concluded that the virus does not really travel along with malignant lymphomas as a passenger in the seropositive patients, and the EBNA antigen test appears a relatively simple way of testing for the presence of the virus genome, provided it is carried out with appropriate controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated antibody patterns in malignant lymphoma and leukemia. I. Hodgkin's disease.
TL;DR: Sera from Swedish patients with Hodgkin's disease as well as control sera from donors without known disease were titrated for antibodies to the EBV by the indirect immunofluorescence technique and an inverse relationship was found between the frequency of lymphoid cells and EBV‐associated serological reactivity.
