Journal ArticleDOI
Determining initial enrichment, burnup, and cooling time of pressurized-water reactor spent fuel assemblies by analyzing passive gamma spectra measured at the Clab interim-fuel storage facility in Sweden
Andrea Favalli,Duc Vo,Brandon R Grogan,Peter Jansson,Henrik Liljenfeldt,Vladimir Mozin,Peter Schwalbach,Anders Sjöland,S. J. Tobin,Holly R. Trellue,Stefano Vaccaro +10 more
TL;DR: The Next Generation Safeguards Initiative (NGSI) -Spent Fuel (SF) project as discussed by the authors has developed a set of measurement campaigns at the Central Interim Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel (Clab), in collaboration with Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB).
Journal ArticleDOI
PWR and BWR spent fuel assembly gamma spectra measurements
Stefano Vaccaro,Stephen J. Tobin,Andrea Favalli,Brandon R Grogan,Peter Jansson,Henrik Liljenfeldt,Vladimir Mozin,Jianwei Hu,Peter Schwalbach,Anders Sjöland,Holly R. Trellue,Duc Vo +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focused on spectrally resolved gamma-ray measurements performed on a diverse set of 50 spent fuel assemblies [25 pressurized water reactor (PWR) assemblies and 25 boiling water Reactor (BWR), and these same 50 assemblies will be measured with neutron-based NDA instruments and a full-length calorimeter.
Neutron Radiography and Fission Mapping Measurements of Nuclear Materials with Varying Composition and Shielding
James Allen Mullens,Seth M McConchie,Paul Hausladen,John T. Mihalczo,Brandon R Grogan,Eric D Sword +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a deuterium-tritium (D-T) neutron generator was used as a source of time and directionally tagged 14 MeV neutrons, which were detected by plastic scintillators placed on the opposite side of the object, using the time correlation-based data acquisition of the Nuclear Materials Identification System developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Experimental and Analytical Plans for the Non-Destructive Assay System of the Swedish Encapsulation and Repository Facilities
S. J. Tobin,Holly R. Trellue,A. Belian,Tom Burr,Michael L Fensin,Andrea Favalli,Jack D. Galloway,John S. Hendricks,Vladimir Henzl,Kiril D. Ianakiev,Howard O Menlove,M. Newell,P. Polk,Carlos D. Rael,P. Santi,Martyn T. Swinhoe,Timothy J. Ulrich,Duc Vo,Sophie Grape,Peter Jansson,S. Jacobsson Svärd,Tomas Martinik,Henrik Liljenfeldt,Anders Sjöland,G. Baldwin,D. Blair,Peter Schwalbach,P. De Baere,Stefano Vaccaro,Ian C Gauld,Jianwei Hu,Brandon R Grogan,Germina Ilas,Andrew Worrall,Y. Ham,Vladimir Mozin,Alexis C. Kaplan,Sara A. Pozzi,D. Meyers +38 more
TL;DR: In this article, the capability of non-destructive assay (NDA) techniques to meet the combined needs of the safeguards community and the Swedish encapsulation and repository facilities operator SKB was evaluated.
