A Prospective Study of the Prevalence of Primary Aldosteronism in 1,125 Hypertensive Patients
Gian Paolo Rossi,Giampaolo Bernini,C. Caliumi,Giovambattista Desideri,Bruno Fabris,Claudio Ferri,Chiara Ganzaroli,Gilberta Giacchetti,Claudio Letizia,Mauro Maccario,Francesca Mallamaci,Massimo Mannelli,Mee-Jung Mattarello,A. Moretti,Gaetana Palumbo,Gabriele Parenti,Enzo Porteri,Andrea Semplicini,Damiano Rizzoni,Ermanno Rossi,Marco Boscaro,Achille C. Pessina,Franco Mantero,Papy Study Investigators +23 more
TL;DR: In newly diagnosed hypertensive patients referred to hypertension centers, the prevalence of APA is high (4.8%) and the availability of AVS is essential for an accurate identification of the adrenocortical pathologies underlying PA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal Damage in Primary Aldosteronism Results of the PAPY Study
Gian Paolo Rossi,Giampaolo Bernini,Giovambattista Desideri,Bruno Fabris,Claudio Ferri,Gilberta Giacchetti,Claudio Letizia,Mauro Maccario,Massimo Mannelli,Mee Jung Matterello,Domenico Montemurro,Gaetana Palumbo,Damiano Rizzoni,Ermanno Rossi,Achille C. Pessina,Franco Mantero +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, primary aldosteronism has been associated with cardiovascular hypertrophy and fibrosis, in part independent of the blood pressure level, but deleterious effects on the kidneys are less clear.
Journal ArticleDOI
Localization of angiotensin converting enzyme in rat heart.
TL;DR: Results reveal a markedly nonuniform localization of ACE in the rat heart and suggest possible sites for local angiotensin II generation and bradykinin or other peptide metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Body mass index predicts plasma aldosterone concentrations in overweight-obese primary hypertensive patients.
Gian Paolo Rossi,Anna Belfiore,Giampaolo Bernini,Bruno Fabris,Graziella Caridi,Claudio Ferri,Gilberta Giacchetti,Claudio Letizia,Mauro Maccario,Massimo Mannelli,Gaetana Palumbo,Anna Patalano,Damiano Rizzoni,Ermanno Rossi,Achille C. Pessina,Franco Mantero +15 more
TL;DR: BMI correlated with PAC independent of age, sex, and sodium intake in PH, but not in PA patients, and suggests a pathophysiological link between visceral adiposity and aldosterone secretion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systemic Tumor Necrosis Factor–Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand Delivery Shows Antiatherosclerotic Activity in Apolipoprotein E–Null Diabetic Mice
Paola Secchiero,Riccardo Candido,Federica Corallini,Serena Zacchigna,Barbara Toffoli,Erika Rimondi,Bruno Fabris,Mauro Giacca,Giorgio Zauli +8 more
TL;DR: Data from the present study indicate that atherosclerosis in diabetic apoE-null mice is ameliorated by systemic TRAIL administration and that adeno-associated virus–mediated TRAIL gene delivery might represent an innovative method for the therapy of diabetic vascular diseases.
