Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in morbidity after pancreatic resection: toward the end of completion pancreatectomy.

TL;DR: Pancreatic resections can be performed with considerable safety and a low rate of pancreatic complications, and completion pancreatectomy should no longer be considered in patients with a pancreatic fistula.
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary malignant hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma: a comprehensive review of the literature with emphasis on the surgical therapy.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of the literature on HEH is presented, with a focus on clinical outcome after different therapeutic strategies, to suggest LTx is an acceptable option for patients who have HEH with extrahepatic manifestation.
Journal ArticleDOI

C-reactive protein as early predictor for infectious postoperative complications in rectal surgery

TL;DR: Persistent CRP elevation and elevation of serum CRP above 140 mg/dl on PODs 3–4 are predictive of infectious postoperative complications and should prompt intense clinical search for an inflammatory process, especially for an anastomotic leak if pneumonia and wound infection are unlikely or excluded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vascular resection in pancreatic cancer surgery: survival determinants.

TL;DR: Resection of the superior mesenteric or portal vein to achieve macroscopic tumor clearance can be performed safely with acceptable operative morbidity and mortality, however, improved local clearance in these patients cannot achieve a favorable long-term survival for all patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wound complications following kidney and liver transplantation

TL;DR: The aim of this review was to delineate the evidence‐based risk factors for wound complications following kidney and liver transplantation (KTx, LTx), and to present the preventive and therapeutic modalities for this bothersome morbidity.
