A Randomized Trial of Chemoradiotherapy and Chemotherapy after Resection of Pancreatic Cancer
John P. Neoptolemos,Deborah D. Stocken,Helmut Friess,Claudio Bassi,Janet A. Dunn,Helen Hickey,Hans G. Beger,Laureano Fernández-Cruz,Christos Dervenis,François Lacaine,Massimo Falconi,Paolo Pederzoli,Akos F. Pap,David Spooner,David J. Kerr,Markus W. Büchler +15 more
TL;DR: Adjuvant chemotherapy has a significant survival benefit in patients with resected pancreatic cancer, whereas adjuvant chemoradiotherapy has a deleterious effect on survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 2016 update of the International Study Group (ISGPS) definition and grading of postoperative pancreatic fistula : 11 Years After
Claudio Bassi,Giovanni Marchegiani,Christos Dervenis,Sarr Mg,Mohammad Abu Hilal,Mustapha Adam,Peter J. Allen,Roland Andersson,Horacio J. Asbun,Marc G. Besselink,Kevin C. Conlon,Marco Del Chiaro,Massimo Falconi,Laureano Fernández-Cruz,Carlos Fernandez-del Castillo,Abe Fingerhut,Helmut Friess,Dirk J. Gouma,Thilo Hackert,Jakob R. Izbicki,Keith D. Lillemoe,John P. Büchler +32 more
TL;DR: This new definition and grading system of postoperative pancreatic Fistula should lead to a more universally consistent evaluation of operative outcomes after pancreatic operation and will allow for a better comparison of techniques used to mitigate the rate and clinical impact of a pancreatic fistula.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preoperative/Neoadjuvant Therapy in Pancreatic Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Response and Resection Percentages
Sonja Gillen,Tibor Schuster,Christian Meyer zum Büschenfelde,Helmut Friess,Jörg Kleeff,Jörg Kleeff +5 more
TL;DR: Jörg Kleef and colleagues systematically reviewed studies on neoadjuvant therapy and tumor response, toxicity, resection, and survival percentages in pancreatic cancer and suggest that patients with locally nonresectable tumors should be included in neoad juvant protocols.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adjuvant chemotherapy with fluorouracil plus folinic acid vs gemcitabine following pancreatic cancer resection: a randomized controlled trial
John P. Neoptolemos,Deborah D. Stocken,Claudio Bassi,Paula Ghaneh,David Cunningham,David Goldstein,Robert Padbury,Malcolm J. Moore,Steven Gallinger,Christophe Mariette,Moritz N. Wente,Jakob R. Izbicki,Helmut Friess,Markus M. Lerch,Christos Dervenis,Attila Oláh,Giovanni Butturini,Ryuichiro Doi,Pehr Lind,David Smith,Juan W. Valle,Daniel H. Palmer,John A. C. Buckels,Joyce Thompson,Colin J. McKay,Charlotte L. Rawcliffe,Markus W. Büchler +26 more
TL;DR: Compared with the use of fluorouracil plus folinic acid, gemcitabine did not result in improved overall survival in patients with completely resected pancreatic cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adjuvant chemoradiotherapy and chemotherapy in resectable pancreatic cancer: a randomised controlled trial.
John P. Neoptolemos,Janet A. Dunn,Deborah D. Stocken,J. Almond,Karl-Heinrich Link,H. G. Beger,Claudio Bassi,Massimo Falconi,Paolo Pederzoli,Christos Dervenis,Laureano Fernández-Cruz,François Lacaine,Akos F. Pap,David Spooner,David J. Kerr,Helmut Friess,Markus W. Büchler +16 more
TL;DR: This study showed no survival benefit for chemoradiotherapy but revealed a potential benefit for adjuvant chemotherapy, justifying further randomised controlled trials of adjUvant chemotherapy in pancreatic cancer.
