Semiconductor light emitting device, backlight, color image display device and phosphor to be used for them

TL;DR: In this article, a light source provided on a backlight for a color image display device has a semiconductor light emitting device comprising a solid light emitting devices to emit light in a blue or deep blue region or in an ultraviolet region and phosphors, in combination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid Microwave Preparation of Highly Efficient Ce3+-Substituted Garnet Phosphors for Solid State White Lighting

TL;DR: In this article, a simple microwave heating technique involving the use of a microwave susceptor to provide the initial heat source was used to obtain phase pure, Ce3+substituted garnet compounds in under 20 min of reaction time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Average and Local Structural Origins of the Optical Properties of the Nitride Phosphor La3–xCexSi6N11 (0 < x ≤ 3)

TL;DR: Structural intricacies of the orange-red nitride phosphor system La(3-x)Ce(x)Si6N11 (0 < x ≤ 3) have been elucidated using a combination of state-of-the art tools, in order to understand the origins of the exceptional optical properties of this important solid-state lighting material.

White light-emitting device and illumination device

TL;DR: In this paper, a technology that allows reducing the used amount of a Mn4+-activated fluoride complex phosphor without loss of luminous efficiency, in a white light-emitting device, is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Local structure and structural rigidity of the green phosphor β-SiAlON:Eu2+

TL;DR: Eu2+ insertion in β-Si3−xAlxOxN4−x is a material that shows exceptional promise as a green-emitting phosphor as mentioned in this paper, and the Debye temperature ΘD, which is a proxy for structural rigidity relating to effectiveness as a phosphor, is determined to decrease only slightly for the small amounts of Al3+ and O2− co-substitution that are required for charge balance associated with Eu 2+ insertion.
