Comparison of Conventional Anterior Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery for Inguinal-Hernia Repair
M. S. L. Liem,Y. van der Graaf,C. J. Van Steensel,R. U. Boelhouwer,G. J. Clevers,W. S. Meijer,Laurents P. S. Stassen,J. P. Vente,W. F. Weidema,A. J. P. Schrijvers,T. J. M. V. Van Vroonhoven +10 more
TL;DR: Patients with inguinal hernias who undergo laparoscopic repair recover more rapidly and have fewer recurrences than those who undergo open surgical repair.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Conventional Anterior Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery for Inguinal Hernia Repair
M. S. L. Liem,Y. Vander Graaf,C. J. Van Steensel,R. U. Boelhouwer,G. J. Clevers,W. S. Meijer,Laurents P. S. Stassen,J. P. Vente,W. F. Weidema,A. J. P. Schrijvers,T. J. M. V. Van Vroonhoven,Richard A. Wiklund +11 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Endoscopic total extraperitoneal repair of primary and recurrent inguinal hernias
TL;DR: This study confirms the preliminary success of TEP for primary inguinal hernia repair, as previously reported, and the high recurrence rate after endoscopic repair of recurrent hernias needs to be studied further.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimal mesh size for endoscopic inguinal hernia repair: a study in a porcine model.
M. T. T. Knook,A. C. Van Rosmalen,B. E. Yoder,Gert-Jan Kleinrensink,Chris J. Snijders,C. W. N. Looman,C. J. Van Steensel +6 more
TL;DR: Recurrences after endoscopic inguinal hernia repair due to inadequate mesh size and mesh protrusion can be reduced by using a mesh that overlaps the defect by > or = 3 cm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laparoscopic repair of recurrent inguinal hernias after endoscopic herniorrhaphy
TL;DR: The transabdominal preperitoneal approach is a reliable technique for recurrent inguinal hernia repair after previous endoscopic herniorrhaphy, and is investigated by means of the laparoscopic approach with acceptable complication and recurrence rates.
